Abstract
Introduction and goal: AIDS is one of the biggest social-health problems in many societies in the 21st Century. It is rapidly spreading due to low awareness of the community and the lack of proper dealing with it.
Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) is the greatest lethal infectious disease and the fourth leading cause of mortality worldwide.
At the end of 2016, 36.7 million people worldwide were living with AIDS; of these, about 41% were women at a reproductive age between 15 and 49 years old At the same time, approximately 3.4 million children under the age of 15 years old were infected.and new HIV infections increased by 21% from 2010 to 2016 .
The most important source of HIV infection among children and newborns is mother-to-child transmission during pregnancy, infection during childbirth, and breastfeeding
The aim of this study was to determine the knowledge, attitude and behaviors of pregnant mothers towards AIDS and HIVrapid Test during pregnancy at the marginal Health Centers of Kermanshah.
Methods: The sample consisted of 200 pregnant women referred to public and private Health Centers in Kermanshah. Data were collected through questionnaire. After collecting questionnaires, the data were entered into the statistical software of SPSS21 and descriptive and analytical statistics were used for data analysis.
Results: The results showed that the average score of knowledge, attitude and behavior of mothers about AIDS was 74.71, 109.11 and 19.18, respectively. The correlation between the variables of knowledge level, general attitude and age is reverse.
Discussion and conclusion:The results of this study showed that the knowledge and attitude of the majority of women in the field of AIDS are moderate or high. So far, no study has been done in the area of behavior toward AIDS. The high knowledge and attitude of Mothers are likely to be due to the training provided by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, after counseling and training, to conduct rapid HIV testing.
