A Survey of Predictive Factors of physical Activity Among Older People Living in Maku in 2017-2018
Abstract
Introduction: Due to the importance of physical activity in old age as a health index and the effect of predictive factors on the basis of sociological ecological model on physical activity, this study was conducted with the aim of investigating the predictors of physical activity on elderly people in the city of Maku.
Methods: This study is a cross - sectional study, which was conducted in 1395 on 340 elderly people, who are classified sampling were selected. Data from the Physical Activity Questionnaire Elderly (PASE ), self-efficacy, perceived benefits, social support Salis and physical environment were collected. The data correlation, multivariate, linear regression, single software using SPSS, STATA 10 and SEM were analyzed.
Results: Mean score of physical activity in the older people was 94.02 ± 3.41, which decreased with age. Mean (SD), self-efficacy16/97 (10.54), perceived benefits 13.90(6.74), social interpersonal 8.37(3.87), family social support 22.26(9.81), social support of friends 8.48(5.89) and physical environment 27.24(9.89), respectively. Amount of physical activity in older women, those with higher education, employment and without comorbidities was higher. In between levels, social support, the strongest predictor of physical activity in this study are structures (β = 2.79), Also, individual self-efficacy (β = 0.74), social support of friends (β= 2.41) and interpersonal factors (β = .92) had a positive and significant correlation with physical activity in the elderly. But there was an inverse correlation between physical environment and physical activity (β = -2.09). In general, individual, social and environmental factors were able to explain 24% of the elderly's physical activity.
Conclusion: The physical activity of older people in the town of Maku was low and the most important predictor of social protection was the family. With regard to the role of all levels, can be used to promote physical activity at the same nursing interventions designed on three levels.
