Abstract
Introduction: Regarding the increasing use of electronic-based education in medical sciences, this study aimed to determine the effect of web-based training on the healthcare instructors’ learning of non-communicable diseases course in Kermanshah province in 2017. Methodology: The method is an interventional study with pretest and post-test design and is applied in terms of the research goal. The population of the study consists of 60 instructors of healthcare centers in Kermanshah. Total sampling method was conducted on all 60 instructors who were randomly divided into two groups of 30. The instruments for collecting data included a researcher-made test of non-communicable disease course. Face validity was used to assess the validity of the test. To test the reliability of the test, pre-test was conducted on the 60 individuals and the Cronbach's alpha coefficient of each of the variables was higher than 0.70, indicating that the reliability was appropriate. The training package of the study, including the course of noncommunicable diseases, was used as intervention presented to the instructors during 6 sessions of 60 minutes. Results: The results of the independent t-test revealed that there was no significant difference between the two groups (in person and web-based) in terms of the mean of measurements before and after the training. However, the results of paired t-test indicated that there was a significant difference in the mean before and after the training, and this difference was significant in both groups. Also, according to the results of Chi-square test, the mean score in both “in person” and “web-based” education groups did not differ significantly in terms of demographic data (sex, education, marital status, age and work experience). Discussion and conclusion: The results of this study showed that web-based education is more effective as an educational strategy and it is suggested that appropriate infrastructure should be provided for using this method in medical universities, especially for educating healthcare instructors.
