Abstract
Introduction:The main responsibility of the universities is training and educating skilled forces needed in the society and providing the conditions for development of the society in all fields especially in health and treatment. To achieve this goal, universities should take a step in promotion of the health level of the society through identification of problems and obstacles of the field, designing and implementation of enacted plans and finally improving them. Considering concerns in the field of achieving educational goals of Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, present study was the first to investigate current educational position in the Oral and Maxillofacial department of Faculty of Dentistry of Tabriz from students’ view in the CIIP evaluation pattern aspects. Method and Materials:In this descriptive research, the study population involved students that finished their theoretical and practical Oral and Maxillofacial courses in the faculty. The data obtained from present study were analyzed using SPSS 13 and were investigated with the aid of descriptive statistical methods such as mean and standard deviation. Results: Results of the study indicated that in the field of content for most students the contents presented in the theoretical Oral and Maxillofacial section was related to other sections. According to them the time of presenting theoretical courses was inappropriate. Regarding input, most students had no access to resources of Oral and Maxillofacial section. In the field of process, for students the process of teaching/learning was not evaluated frequently. They believe that, there is a relatively good relationship and cooperation between masters and students in the Oral and Maxillofacial section. In the field of product, quality of theoretical tests are not appropriate. Conclusion: Investigating results and findings of the study it can recognized that, in general, students are satisfied with masters’ education method and facilities available in the Oral and Maxillofacial section. However, more improvements are needed for complete achievement of educational objectives in the practical training section and also frequent evaluation of the students’ performance during the semester motivates them for more study of the course.
