Validity and reliability of the persian version of modified moos menstrual distress questionnaire

Abstract
Introduction: Dysmenorrhea is a common disorder in women at reproductive age which needs medical treatments and self-care procedures. There are several instruments to assess dysmenorrhea. One of the most common tools is Moos Menstrual Distress Questionnaire (MMDQ). Therefore, this study was performed with aim to assess the validity and reliability of Persian version of modified Moos Menstrual Distress Questionnaire. Methods: This cross-sectional and descriptive study was performed on 171 young girls and women suffering from dysmenorrhea in Tabriz in 2015. The samples were selected by available method. Content validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by 10 experts. Construct validity and reliability of the questionnaire was done using factor analysis and internal consistency with SPSS software (version 21). Conclusion: Modified Moos Menstrual Distress Questionnaire has acceptable validity and reliability and can be used as an evaluation instrument in investigative studies as well as therapeutic purposes. 2016, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.
