Solubility of tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane (TRIS) in various mass fraction compositions of water + 1- propanol solvent mixtures at (293.2, 298.2, 303.2, 308.2, and 313.2) K was measured using a laser monitoring technique. The generated data were mathematically represented using the Jouyban-Acree model. The correlated mole fraction solubilities are in good agreement with the corresponding experimental values as documented by an overall mean percentage deviation of 2.3 %. Densities of TRIS saturated solutions in water and 1-propanol at various temperatures were measured and employed to predict the density of TRIS saturated solutions in their binary solvent mixtures using a well-established method. © 2014 American Chemical Society.

Comparison of various cosolvency models for calculating solute solubility in water-cosolvent mixtures
Jouyban-Gharamaleki, A; Valaee, L; Barzegar-Jalali, M; Clark, BJ; Acree, WE (1999)Previously published cosolvency models are critically evaluated in terms of their ability to mathematically correlate solute solubility in binary solvent mixtures as a function of solvent composition. Computational results ...
