An improved cosolvency model for predicting the solubility of drugs in polyethylene glycols (PEGs) + water mixtures at various temperatures was provided by a combination of the Jouyban-Acree model with the Abraham solvation parameters of drugs. The input data for the proposed model is drug solubility in neat PEGs and water and the computed Abraham solvation parameters of drugs. Applicability of the proposed model was tested on a number of drugs solubility data in PEGs + water mixtures and the mean percentage deviation of 22.5% was obtained. An attempt was made to provide predictive models for solubility of drugs in the mono-solvents which was failed due to the very large deviations for such models. © 2015 Colegio de Farmaceuticos de la Provincia de Buenos Aires.
