Abstract
Orthodontic patients prone caries more than none orthodontic patients because of orthodontic appliance susceptibility to adherence streptococcus mutans. So finding the material to decrease this condition would be welcomed. The aim of this study was comparing different adhesives as regard of area and depth on enamel around the brackets. Seventy five freshly extracted sound bovine mandibular incisors selected. the samples randomly assigned to five groups containing 15 specimens each group.group 1 was control the kind of adhesive in Group 2 was Transbond XT. Group 3 chlorhexidine varnish was applied and then The brackets bonded using the same adhesive as Group 2 (Transbond XT). Group 4 with Enlight and the last one were bonded by Fuji Ortho LC was used for bracket bonding. After four weeks incubation at 37آ°C,the evaluation of area and depth of the lesions were measured up 100 ?m from the residual bonding agent with polarization light microscopy (PLM) preformed. The amount of area and depth of deminerilation in group 2 (Transbond XT) significantly was greater than other groups. There was not significantly difference between the other groups. The depth and area of artificial caries lesions produced adjacent to Conventional composite resin (Transbond XT), were significantly larger than lesions produced adjacent to other adhesives. é 2011 Nova Science Publishers.
