Abstract
This paper describes the use of an aluminum electrode plated by thin layer metallic palladium and modified by Prussian blue (PB/Pd-Al) for hydrodynamic amperometry of hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)) exploiting its electrocatalytic reduction on the electrode. In optimum conditions the hydrodynamic amperometry was used for the determination of H(2)O(2) at mu M concentration level. It is found that the calibration graph is linear in the H(2)O(2) concentration range 5 x 10(-6) to 34 x 10(-6) mol L(-1) with correlation coefficient of 0.999. The detection limit of the method was about 4 x 10(-6) mol L(-1). The possibility of using the proposed method for selective determination of hydrogen peroxide in the presence of molecular oxygen is demonstrated. The method was successfully used for the monitoring of H(2)O(2) in some salivary and environmental samples. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
