Abstract
Prinzmetal variant angina is an unusual syndrome of cardiac pain. Research recently showed that there is a deficiency in endothelial NO bioactivity at the sites of coronary artery spasm. The aim of this study to investigate that whether is there any relation between serum nitric oxide levels with dietary docosahexaenoic acid eicosapentaenoic acid and blood pressure in prinzmetal angina patients. A case control study was conducted on 69 matched pairs, aged 40-60 years, and persons that referred to Emam Khomeini hospital of Ardebil Participants were interviewed using a structured questionnaire. Venous blood samples were collected from participants. The serum levels of nitric oxide were determined for all participants. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square and Independent sample t-test. The prinzmetal angina patients had higher values for blood pressure. There was no significant difference between groups in serum nitric oxide means. There were significant differences in dietary DHA. and EPA between groups. There was significant association between serum nitric oxide and dietary DHA and EPA. Serum NO has significant association with dietary DHA and EPA in prinzmetal angina patients. There wasn't any significant association in serum nitric oxide between groups of study.
