Abstract
The solubility of a solute is an important physico-chemical property of drugs/chemicals and is highly in demand in the industry. Addition of the second solvent is a common procedure to alter the solubility of drugs. In addition to experimental determination of a solute's solubility, a number of cosolvency models have been proposed to facilitate the process design procedures. The combined nearly ideal binary solvent/Redlich-Kister model and its extended version, i.e. the Jouyban-Acree model, are the most common models in the solubility prediction area. This work focused on providing the mathematical derivation of the models and also brief review of their practical applications. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
