The survey of prevalence of treatment miscues that done by dentistry students in patients that confer to endodontic department of Tabriz dentistry faculty from 2002-2009
Abstract
The main purpose of endodontic therapy is to clean all root canals and complete their filling. Similar to other complicated dental procedures there are also the like lipoid of providing unwanted and unpredicted situations in treating root canal which can effect treatment prognosis which known as events during treatment . The purpose of this study is to assess error prevalence of root treatment done by dental students at the patients referring to endodontics department of faculty of dentistry of Tabriz university of medical sciences between the year of 81 to 88. Materials and Methods: This study is a descriptive , sectional and retro specie assessment The data regarding 620 teeth which their root have been treated 8 years ago drawn through records and were analyzed using SPSS statistic software and descriptive statistics. Results: The results demonstrated that 7.5 percent of teeth involved proforation at third apical area, Zipping and ledge have been seen at 11.4 percent of root treated teeth and we have 6.1 percent fracture of means. The errors prevalence was more at the students who passing lower endo practical unit than students passing highet endo practical unit. Discussion and Conclusion: At the end it is considered that in the present study compared to other studies the total rate of treatment errors are considerably lower. This is more because of the direct and scientific supervision of board members on how the students do their work. Also donEt using of motor means for prepating teeth by the students can be another reason for this case.
