The most common problems after delivery of removable partial dentures and their causes in patients referring to prosthodontics ward of Tabriz Faculty of dentistry in 2013

Abstract
with the decreasing rate of toothless adults, the number of individulas who need partial prosthesis increases every day. It is possible that some problems occurs by the delivery or afterwards, in this study, we evaluated The most common problems after delivery of removable partial dentures and their causes in patients referring to prosthodontics ward of Tabriz Faculty of dentistry in 2013. Methods and Materials: In a cross - sectional study in 2013 on 80 patients referring to the Department of Prosthodontics, School of Dentistry, Tabriz the most common problems of patients was studied in five categories: pain, mobility and relaxation, functionale problems, cosmetic problems and other difficulties. After data collection, the data using statistical software SPSS18, were analyzed. Findings: the mean age of patients was 51.347.24 years in the range of 36 to 63 years, 39 (48.08%) were male and 51(51.3%) were female. Based on the analysis, the pain in the palat and throat while opening and closure of the mouth, pain in the basic teeth, pain in the various site of the mouth was significantly mre ( P=0.033, P=0.01, p=0.005,P=0.005respectively).the mobility and the lack of adequate fixation was also higher ( P<0.001).the difficulty in eating and speaking was significantly higher( P=0.033 ,P=0.046 respectively). Most of patients were satisfied with the shape, and cosmetic aspects( P=0.033, P<0.001, P=0.026 respectively). Conclusion: the most problems of partial dentures based upon the findings of present study includes: the pain in the palat and throat while opening and closure of the mouth, pain in the basic teeth, pain in the various site of the mouth,.the difficulty in eating and speaking and the lack of adequate fixation.
