The level of Tabriz general dental practitioners knowledge about laser's application in oral surgeries

Abstract

Because of laser advantages, its use in oral surgery as a method in soft tissue surgery is common. It is long time that Laser used for oral surgery and Implants. In some cases use of Laser for purposes of cosmetic had paramount on routine treatment. The aim of this study was to determine level of Tabriz Dental practitioners' knowledge about Laser's application in oral surgeries. Methods: In a cross-sectional and descriptive study that performed on Tabriz Dental practitioners, level of Tabriz Dental practitioners knowledge about Laser's application in oral surgeries evaluated. Results and conclusion: Only 6 of studied persons had history of using Laser and 10 of them observation of Laser use and 6 of them participate in training related to application of Laser in oral surgery which is representative of low courses knowledge of Tabriz Dental practitioners about Laser but 171 of them willing to use Laser for surgery and 139 of them prefer Laser. Tissue removal without anesthesia, rapid improve of signs after surgery, better control of infection and bleeding, easy control of depth of incision, increase of surgeon view were of advantages that agreed upon by most of Tabriz Dental practitioners. Probability of pulp necrosis, creation of cavity on enamel and dentin, liquation of bone, risk of soft tissue damage, recurrent herpes and probability of damage to surgeon eye were malfunctions that agreed upon by most of Tabriz Dental practitioners.
