The impact of Pain- Sensitive Temprament on 6-8 year- old children behavioral feadback and pain perception during inferior alveoalr nerve block
Abstract
This present study is discussed the impact of pain-sensitive temperament on pain perceived and behavioral feedback in 6-8 years children during the Injection of Inferior alveolar nerve block. Materials and Methods : In this cross - sectional study Participated 137 children 6-8 aged that for the first time had been referred to Department of Pediatrics for dental treatment. pain-sensitivity Temperament of children assessment with sensitivity Temperament Inventory for Pain (STIP) Questionnaire and evaluated by clinical psychologists. In the treatment session , the Inferior alveolar nerve block was done for all participants in the study by pediatric specialist . Children 's behavior during injection evaluated by Sound, Eye and Motor examination (SEM) Index and the amount of pain perceived evaluated by E?Wong-Baker Fasces Pain Rating E?Index after treatment . Data were analyzed by STATA 10 software . Results: Pain -sensitive temperament score was significantly correlated with the child's perceived pain scores (VAS) during injection (p< 0/001). Also with increases the pain-sensitive temperament scores behavioral indicators score (SEM) were higher and significant correlation between the intensity of children's pain sensitive temperament and avoidance behavior during the inferior mandibular block . (p <0 /001). Conclusions : These results suggest that children's pain sensitive temperamen have a significant relationship with the level of perceived pain and children's behavioral feedback during the Inferior mandibular block
