Abstract
Due attention to that the most of the dental works are done as outpatients and as a result of local anesthesia , Creation of deep anesthesia and painlessness during work is cause the increasing of treatment effectiveness and improving the relation between dentist and patient. The most common anesthesia for lower jaw is IANB. Unfortunately failure with this method of anesthesia is common and always have been a problem of the clinicians and 15-20% uneffectiveness is reported. One of the important reasons of the failure is the variety of the location of mandibular foramen that in different ages and in different people the location of MF is different. In this study the place of insertion is defined by using of radiography and evaluation the location of MF and rate of effectiveness with routine method( without using of radiography) is compared. Materials and Methods: This study was a clinical trial that in 31 patients who reffered to the maxillofacial department of tabriz faculty of dentistry for extraction of bilateral posterior mandibular teeth and Inclusion and exclusion criteria would apply to entrance to the study. In one side the IANB was done routinely and in the other side the IANB was done by using of panoramic radiography and the effectiveness of anesthesia of posterior teeth evaluated by electric pulp tester after 10 minutes. Results: The rate of effectiveness of IANB by using of panoramic radiography is 93.5% and the effectiveness of IANB with routine method (without using of panoramic radiography) is 71% and according to K Square test there is a significant differences between two groups.(p=0/02). Conclusions: In this study it was shown that the using of panoramic radiography in IANB has more effectiveness than the routine method of IANB.
