Relation of Early childhood oral health impact scale with preschooler children's fear and behavior during dental treatment
Abstract
Introduction: oral and dental deases can affect quality of life and cause stress and behavioral disorders. This study aimed to investigate the impact of early childhood oral-health related quality of life on fear level and behavioral status. Materials and Methodes: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 385 children aged 3 to 6 attending to pediatric dentistry department of Tabriz dental faculty in their first dental appointment. Oral-health related quality of life was measured with E?ECOHIS questionare and dental fear evaluated using E?CFSS-DS questionare. Also FrankleEs behavioral scale is used for evaluation of behavioral status. Data were analyzed by SPSS-13 software. Results: ECOHIS score was correlated with CFSS-DS score (P<0,01) and frakleEs behavioral scale. Thee was a association between ECOHIS and CFSS-DS score (B=0.198). also there was association between ECOHIS and behavioral status (B=-0.193). according the results Those experimenting the poorest oral health related quality of life are among with those high levels of dental anxiety and behavioral disorders. Conclusion: According to the study results there was a association between early childhood oral health related quality of life with level of dental fear and behavioral status. .
