Quality improvement of dental education in dental faculty of Tabriz University of Medical sciences using action research approac
Abstract
This investigation has conformed and designed because of the importance of dental education and explored it's challenges by the purpose of the challenges in dental education in the Tabriz university of medical science in the view point of the academic staffs, students, managers and teaching staffs.Materials and methods:Present study is in the sort of consolidative studies (qualitative - quantitative) which was done in the Tabriz university of medical science - dental faculty in 2015. In this study, a questionnaire with open questions designed by reviewing the texts and using expert persons in the field of medical science. The interviewees were 35 students, 13 persons of academic staffs and 10 members of managers and employees in the field of teaching. The data analysis was done by the content-analysis method manually. The exerted challenges in the view point of expert persons was Prioritized using Prioritization matrix.In this study 38 challenges was expressed by academic staffs that the congestion of the departments arises from merging the Aras, national and graduate students, was the most important. Also 36 challenges was expressed by students which lacking the program for educating some works such as reendo, apex finder, removing crowns and... were the most significant priorities. Also the 29 challenges was expressed by managers and employees that underestimating the importance of teaching and high noting to researching was the most important one. To solve these challenges 53 solutions (28 solutions by academic staffs, 13 solutions in the view point of students and 12 solutions by managers and employees) were exerted.Conclusion: In general state, lack of enough spaces and equipments, problems in the course content, the challenges considering to regularity and capability of the professors, the problems of evaluating of students and the lack of motivation of student were the most important challenges in the field of dental teaching in the Tabriz university of medical science.
