Prevalence of lesions with impacted teeth in patients referring to oral pathology department of Tabriz dental school during the years 2005-2014
Abstract
Crown of impacted teeth are surrounded by dental follicle.In some literature ,different reports of the prevalences of these lesions were mentioned.The purpose of this research is to investigate the lesion with impacted teeth according to age range ,location , Sexual distribution in patients reffered to department of the oral pathology in Tabriz dental faculty.Materials and methods: In this retrospective, descriptive - analytical subjects included medical records of patients with diagnosis of lesions associated with impacted teeth in the department oral pathology in Tabriz dental faculty during 1383-92. Data obtained were analyzed by using descriptive statistical methods, chi-square test and the SPSS15.Results: In this study of 1,050 cases, 33 (86/2%) lesions were associated with impacted teeth. The most reported lesion was dentigerous cyst with 5.1 5% prevalence and OKC with a frequency of 2/24% was in the second category. The lowest reported lesion in our study was AOT with a prevalence of 3%. Most lesions were seen in the third decade. Due to the location of lesions maxillary canine and mandibular wisdom tooth had the highest lesion.Conclusion: If the teeth after its eruption time does not appear in the oral cavity follow up is very important and this study showed the high prevalence of lesions with impacted teeth.
