Knowledge and attitude and behaviour of health care personels about oral health in Myandoab city
Abstract
The health care personnel play an important role in giving primary health services which include oral and dental hygiene training. The aim of this study is to determine knowledge and attitudes of health care personnel in Miyandoab city for the prevention of oral and dental diseases. The method of the study was descriptive-cross-sectional. The universe included 200 health care personnel working in Miyandoab health centers in 1389 that using the Cochran sampling formula 132 health care personnel were selected through systematic sampling method. To determine knowledge and attitudes of health care personnel, a questionnaire created by the researcher was used, which included 10 questions to assess knowledge and 10 questions to assess attitudes. Then the obtained data were analyzed by SPSS software. T-test, ANOVA and Pearson-test were used to analyze data and using the independent variables multiple regression was used to determine the amount of health care personnel knowledge. Results: The mean knowledge of health care personnel studied was 87/12 10/66 of 100 and mean attitude 90/070/7 of 100. There wasnEt significant relationship between health workersE knowledge and attitudes and their gender. But there was converse and significant relationship between knowledge and work experience. (P<0/ 05). Conclusion: The mean attitude of health care personnel of oral and dental hygiene was desirable, but mean knowledge was low. In order to improve health workers knowledge it is necessary to give training in this field because there is converse relationship between knowledge and work experience. So training courses for personnel with more experience is required.
