Evaluation of the marginal fit of two types of porcelain laminate veneers
Abstract
objective: To evaluate marginal fit of two types of porcelain laminate veneers and help in selection of more accurate veneers in discolored teeth. Methods and Materials : Labial surface of a maxillary central incisor was prepared according to veneer preparation method in discolored teeth. Impression was made and poured with acrylic resin and converted to a master metal die, then impressions were made of this master die(n=30).Type IV stone was used to pour the impressions and stone dies distributed randomly into test groups(n=15) for the construction of the Duceram and Inceram laminate veneers. six predetermined points were subjected to marginal gap evaluations using stereomicroscope ,digital camera and a computer monitor. Data was calculated and analyzed using mean value and independent T test( =0.05). Results: The mean( SD) of marginal gap for Inceram system was 114(30.52) and for Duceram 292.31(37.41). Independent T test revealed significant effects by material between two types of veneers on the different predetermined points. Conclusion: findings of this study demonstrated that Duceram system showed significantly larger (p<0.05) marginal gap than Inceram. Inceram system has accurate marginal adaptation and it would seem to be acceptable for fabrication of veneers especially in discolored teeth.
