Evaluation of the knowledge, Attitude and practice of dentists in Tabriz about infection control principles (2010)
Abstract
The probability of passing infections disease to eachother through dentistry or from the patient to the dentist and vice versa requites the dentists to observe the infection contrd principal. The purpose of this study was to assess the degree of knowledge, attitude and performance of the dentists in Tabriz about infection control principal in 2010. Materials and Methods: This was a cross- sectional descriptive study. A number of 200 dentists who were engaged in their profession were assessed in Tabriz who 170 ones were common dentists and 30 ones were specialits. Random sampling methods was used for the study. A questionnaire including 32 questions- about knowledge , attitude and performance, 13,7,12 respectively- was submitted to subjects . After gathering the questionnaires data were analyzed using SPSS 14 statistic software in descriptive statistic analysis methode. Results: The mean score was 78. The mean score for knowledge, attitude and performance of all the dentists were 66, 92 and 76, respectively. The amount of dentists usage of otoclav was 92%. The amount of vaccinated assistants against B hepatitis was 87%. Conclusion: The degree of knowledge, attitude and performance of Tabriz dentists was as follow: Knowledge: 66 that was good. Performance: 76 that was good. Attitude: 92 that was excellent. The amount of vaccinated dentists againts HB was 98%. The amount dentists usage of otoclav was 92%.
