Evaluation of the knowledge of Tabriz general dental practitioners on complications of impacted third molar surgeries (2011)
Abstract
Impacted third molar surgery and its corresponding complications are common issue in dental practice. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the knowledge of Tabriz general dental practitioners on the complications of impacted third molar surgeries. Matherials and Methods: In this study, the questionarres were filled by 183 general dental practiotioners (GDPs) that were selected randomly. The collected data was reported by descriptive statistics and the relationship between variables was analysed using Chi-square test by Spss 14. P<0.05 was considered significant in this study. Results: Average level of knowledge among GDPs was 9.87 2.66. Among 183 GDPs, the knowledge of 15 individuals (8.1%) was low, 152 individuals (81.7%) was moderate, and 19 persons (10.2) was high. The Chi-square analysis revealed no significant correlation between knowledge level and other variables (age, gender, and practice experience) (P>0.05). Conclusions: Within the limitations of this study, the knowledge level of Tabriz general dental practitioners on complications of impacted third molar surgeries was moderate.
