Evaluation of the knowledge of general dentists of Tabriz regarding importance of ease refer to the periodontist in 2010

Abstract

Treatment of periodontal disease is possible with cooperation of dentists, periodontitis and patients. The aim of this study was evaluation of the knowledge of general dentists of Tabriz regarding importance of case referral to the periodontist in 2009. Meterials and Methods: This study was performed by cross sectional descriptional method. Statistical group consist of 120 dentists who wonk in Tabriz city . Questionairs that was distributed among them consisted of 15 questions Obtained informations were analyzed by using descriptional statistical tests and T- test and in SPSS/13. Results: 127 male dentists (67.5%) with mean age 40.15.3 and 66 Female dentist (32.5) with mean age 32.264.31 were included in this study . 76.1% of dentists have 1-5 referal patiats in month and 19.7% of them have more than 5 referral . The rate of crown leathening, gingival graft surgery, flap suragery and implant surgery was 79.3% , 8%, 65.9% and 24.6% , 64.6% of dentists have belived that distance of clinic to referd center is very important. The most refered case were patient under malignay treatment (86.5%) loss of attachment (89.3% ) and vertical bone loss (76.72%). Conclusion : More then 95% of dentists have at least one periodont in month. Adjacency of clinical and referal center is very important.
