Evaluation of radiographic errors in periapical images made by undergraduate dental students of Tabriz university in 1389-90

Abstract

The People who plan for educational courses try to achieve standards of learning and teaching techniques in each level . All these efforts are due to enhance student learnings. The aim of this study was to evaluate the reasons of repeated preapical radiographies and the effects of training on reducing this factors. In radiology department of Tabriz dentistry faculty. Materials and Methods: Preapical radiograpghis were collected during one year by dentistry students passing radiology conreses. These radiographies were assessed by oral and Maxilofacial radiology specialist if there were any errors that cause re-expose we register them. The results were statisticaly evaluated. Results: Chi-Square Test showd the different results between 3 groups (P=0.010) and most of errors were related the vertical angle of the tube and the lack of appropriate film placement . Conclusaion: Errors rates were decreased among students who had passed more radiology coures. Although we must try more to educate students to decreases errors rate to decrease the rate of errors of inappropriate vertical angle of the tube, it is suggested to use parallel technique in spite of bisect technique or using equipment for guiding direction of tube in bisect technique.
