Evaluation of fluoride content of Tabriz drinking water and determining the necessary level of it in 2010

Abstract
Fluoride is one, of the minerals in the nature which is naturally found in all water sources; even the oceans. This halogen combines with other elements very hard. Thus it is not naturally found in the fluoride form; but found in Fluorine form. The role of this mineral in prevention of dental caries and dental strengthen as known in more than hundred years. Hereby Fluoride in several methods used as supplements and also subjoin of that in to toothpaste, month wash, milk or bread and at end subjoin of that in to drinking water recommended. Optimum fluoride or concentration of fluoride that had anti caries efficacy with low risk of fluorosis was determined in 1 ppm deal. Suitable concentration of fluoride of drinking water determine in accordance with temperature of each area. The aim of this study was Evaluation of fluoride content of Tabriz drinking water and determining the necessary level of it in 2010. Methods:In a cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study, the amount of fluoride in drinking water reservoirs of Tabriz city was examined on different reservoirs. Results and conclusions: The mean fluoride concentration in the first phase (spring time) of test in eight tested center was 0.109 0.040 ppm .The mean fluoride concentration in the second phase (Summer time) of test in eight tested center was 0.101 0.024 ppm that difference was not significant that explanatory the low fluoride levels in drinking water of Tabriz, which reveals the need for additional fluoride supplement in drinking water of Tabriz city.
