Evaluation of clinical expertise of faculty performance from students of Tabriz faculty of dentistry in 1393
Abstract
Continous evaluation of the existing condition, recognition of strong points and improving the weak points are necessary for improvement of the quality of educational system. In this case the perceptions of the students as the educational element could open the door to future plans. The aim of this study was to evaluate the charactenistics of qualified clinical teachers identified by dental students of Tabriz Faculty Dentistry in 2014. Methods and materials: The research tool of this study was a close-ended questionnaire designed by researchers. The first part of the questionnaire included the demographic data of samples(gender, entrance year and educational grade). The second part of the questionnaire included 22 questions in themes of caring, motivation, knowledgeable, patience, experience, efficiency, professionalism, available, feedback, effective, interpersonal communication, fairness, happiness, patient-centred. The method used for scoring the responses of the samples was according to dipresion of the normal distribution curve. Validity of the questionnaire was admitted by the 5 faculty members of department of endodontics, 2 ordinary persons and 2 statistics specialists. Realiblity was determined by the pilot study including 20 students and ChronbachEs alpha test for evaluation of the charactenistics of qualified clinical teacher. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods and Chi-square test was used to evaluate the relationship between demographic variables(independent) and dependent variables. Statistically significant differences among groups and within groups were set at P<0.05. Results: Descriptive statistical analysis showed that the rate of E?moderate responses to most of the questions were more than others exept for the questions number 4, 15, 16, 17. Statistically significant relation was seen amaong the scores given by the students to questions and gender, age and educatinal grade(P<0.05). Also, in most of the questions, there was a significant difference in scores given to the different departments of the Faculty(P<0.05). Conclusions: In this study most of the studentsE responses to the questions about different aspects of educational performance of faculty members of Tabriz Faculty Dentistry were existed in range of moderate.
