Abstract
Minimum length of the root end filling material and pulling out of gutta-percha during post space preparation is one of the complications of post insertion in short root teeth. The aim of this study was to investigate the coronal leakage of enterococcus faecalis in the short root teeth filled with Gutta-Percha and Mineral trioxide aggregate plug. Materials and method: In this in vitro study, 40 single- root extracted teeth were selected and make the 13mm samples from apex with use disc. the samples were randomly divided into 5 experimental (n=8) groups. All root canals were prepared. Two groups (A,B) were obturated using laterally condensed gutta-percha and sealer AH-26 and then post space was prepared so that only 4mm of gutta-percha in group (A) and 5mm in group(B) remained in the apical part.in other three groups(C,D,E) received 1,2,3mm thick orthograde MTA plug, respectively. after the setting time of the filling material, teeth were connected to a bacterial microleakage evaluation system. Enterococcus faecalis was injected into canals every 72 hours .the period of this study was 120 days and samples were checked every day. Finally, for estimation of average of microleakage time were used Kaplen-Meier method and for comparison were used Log-Rank analysis test. Results: The leakage was found in all samples (100%).there was no statistically significant difference) P>0.05) among the three MTA groups(C,D,E). this situation (P>0.05) was seen among Gutta-percha groups(A,B). but there was significant difference(P<0.05) among MTA groups with Gutta-percha groups. Conclusion: Based of this study, the sealing ability of MTA is better than Gutta-percha. and there is no difference among 1,2,3mm thickness of MTA
