Comparison of colour selection accordance in two shade guide system of Vita Pan classic and 3D master by dentistry students of Tabriz university of medical sciences

Abstract
Color Research has shown that shade guides do not always match the color of natural teeth. Moreover, Visual evaluation of dental colors has been found to be inconsistent and unreliable. In Fact it has always been important when using different shade guides. Our purpose in this study was to Comparison of color selection accordance in two shade guide system of Vita Pan Classic and 3D Master by dentistry students of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences with a useful training in principles of color and shade selection techniques. Materials & Methods: In this analytical-cross sectional-descriptive study, 20 male and 20 female senior dentistry students with a little clinical experience in working with shade guides were chosen. Each Student used two shade guide (Vita-Classic & 3DMaster) separately to color selection. Shade selection was randomly repeated one week later by the same protocol. T-test for comparing repeatability of color accordance among means was used for statistical analysis (=0.05). Result: Comparing of repeatability percentage of color selection accordance exclusive of gender show that percentage of repeatability of color selection accordance in 3D Master system is significantly high (P=0.00).Also comparing of means repeatability of color selection accordance with different shade guide systems on the basis of gender represent no significant difference (P=0.68). Conclusion:In general, the results of statistical analysis show that percentage of repeatability of color selection accordance in 3D Master system is significantly high and color selection in female groups with this system is lightly greater than male groups despite of insignificance.
