Comparison of clinical effects of kin gingival mouthwash with chlorhexidine 0/2% mouthwash in generelized mild to moderate chronic periodontitis

Abstract

Chlorhexidine is the most effective substance for chemical removal of dental plaque and recognized as a golden standard regarding anti-plaque efficacy. The aim of this study was to comparison of clinical effects of kin gingival mouthwash with chlorhexidine 0/2% in generalized mild to moderate chronic periodontitis. Materials and Methods: This intervention - experimental study involved 88 participants. The subjects were divided into two groups of 44. The first group used the chlorhexidine 0/2% mouthwash and the second group used kin-gingival mouthwash for two week. Clinical parameters include plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), probing depth (PD) and bleeding on probing (BOP), measured and recorded before and after mouthwash usage. The results were analyzed by SPSS 17 software. Results: The mean of PI, GI and PD after using the kin-gingival mouthwash were significantly lower in comparison to the values after using the chlorhexidine 0/2%. There was no significant difference between the two mouthwashes in bleeding on probing. Conclusion: Kin Gingival mouthwash has a greater effect than chlorhexidine on clinical parameter in generalized mild to moderate chronic periodontitis and is recommended to be used for plaque chemical inhibition.
