Abstract
Objective: It has been proved that the ability of root canal sealers to adhere to core material and to dentin may result in superior sealing ability and avoid the coronal and apical leakage after obturation of the root canal. In recent years new technics and materials have been developed in order to increase the bonding ability of root canal filling materials to dentin. Therefor the aim of this study was to evaluate the push-out bond strength of three endodontic sealers to intra-radicular dentin in presence or absence of smear layer. Material and methods:fifty-four single-rooted human teeth were selected. The teeth were allocated in two experimental groups , irrigated with 2.5% NaOCl+17%EDTA or saline solution. Then the groups were divided into three subgroups and filled with Epiphany sealer , Dorifill sealer and MTA Fillapex. All teeth were sectioned transversally into 2-mm-thick discs. These discs were then subjected to the push-out test. The data were then analyzed by using two-way ANOVA and TukeyEs test. Results: Mean ( SD) in root canals irrigated with 2.5%NaOCl+17%EDTA were : GEpiphany(3.060.38) ,GMTA Fillapex(1.980.26) , GDorifill(1.260.37) .Two-way ANOVA and TukeyEs test showed the highest bond strength for the EpiphanyEs group when compared to the other tested sealers and MTA Fillapex presented higher bond strength values than Dorifill sealer (p<0.05). Saline solution decreased the values of bond-strength for all sealers. Conclusions: Epiphany sealer presented higher bond strength values to dentin in both irrigating protocols , and the use of 2.5%NaOCl+17%EDTA increased the bond strength values for all sealers.
