Comparision of antibacterial effect of two irrigant TAED and Naocl on Enterococcus faecalis
Abstract
Antimicrobial properties of endodontic irrigants influences the success rate of root canal therapy. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the antibacterial effect of TAED with 2.5% and 5% Sodium Hypochlorite on Entrococcus faecalis by agar diffusion test. Methods and Materials: sixty plates were cultured with E. faecalis suspension(1.5 * 10 8CFU/ml) on Muller Hinton agar. four pits were prepared on medium surface by metal punch and the endodontic irrigants were applied to three of them. The Fourth pit was maintained empty as positive control. After incubation , the diameter of the bacterial growth-free area around solutions was measured with consideration of 6 mm primary diameters. Results:Analysis revealed that there was a significant difference in growth-inhibition area grade among TAED and 2.5% sodium hypochlorite (p<0.05) . TAED showed more growth-inhibition diameter in comparison with 2.5% sodium hypochlorite. there was no any significant difference in growth-inhibition area grade among TAED and 5% sodium hypochlorite. Conclusions:TAED has more antibacterial efficacy than 2.5% sodium hypochlorite on Enterococcus faecalis.
