An investigation on the prevalence of partial prosthesis classification among male and female patients in partial denture department of dental faculty, Tabriz university of medical sciences
Abstract
Being aware of the edentoulism pattern would help us in theoretical and practival educational planning and therefore we could decide better on societys immense issues related to health, prevention and treatment. So, this study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of different classes removable partial prosthesis according to Kenedys classification in dental prosthesis department of Tabriz dental school. Methods and materials:231 patient charts that have been undertaken removable partial prosthesis therapy were selected randomly. Patients information was recorded at pre-prepared forms. The collected data were analyzed independently or in relation with age, gender, and knowledge level variable using Spss 16 statistical software. The P<0.05 was considered significant at this study. Results:Class I partial prosthesis was the most (40.6%) and class II mod IV was the least (0.4%) prevelant class in all treated patients. Pearson correlation test revealed that there is not any significant relationship between classification of partial prosthesis and age, gender, and knowledge level variables (P>0.05). Conclusions: Based on the findings of this study, class I removable partial prosthesis was the most prevalent treated prosthesis among all groups regarding age, gender, and knowledge level.
