A survay on view points of students on the quality of clinical aducation and student's assessment in pediatric dentistry department of Tabriz university of medical sciences in educational year of 2014-2015

Abstract
Pediatric evaluation of educational programs provides insight into the course and teaching effectiveness. Effective evaluation provides valuable information, which contributes to both students and course success. The purpose of this study was to survey on viewpoints of students on the quality of clinical education and student's assessment in pediatric dentistry department of Tabriz University of Medical sciences in educational year of 2014-2015. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 132 fifth and sixth grade undergraduate dental students in pediatric dentistry ward at Tabriz dental school. A questionnaire including 28 multiple choice questions in 3 parts: primary assessment, clinical education, final assessment was given to students. Data were analyzed by SPSS-17 software. Results: According to the study results, the viewpoints of students about primary assessment in pediatric dentistry department was desirable. In questions about clinical education the highest success rate of pediatric dentistry department was achived in prevention and the lowest success rate was in periodontal disease. dental students avaluated the final assessment in pediatric dentistry department as moderate. Conclusion: This study showed that the viewpoints of students about pediatric dentistry department of Tabriz was desirable. But, students reported a lack of confidence in clinical education of pediatric periodontal disease, space management and treatment of medically compromised patients which warrants greater emphasis in the undergraduate curriculum.
