dc.description.abstractIntroduction Personalized medicine is an emerging approach for disease treatment and prevention that takes into account individual variability in genes, environment, and lifestyle for each person. It enables healthcare providers to tailor treatment and prevention strategies to people’s unique characteristics, including their genome sequence, microbiome composition, health history, lifestyle, and diet. Recently, this issue is being investigated all over the world..Few research has been done on personalized medicine in our country. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the Knowledge and attitude of health professionals to personalized medicine. Methods Data collection was done using a questionnaire. By settling in different departments in different hospitals of the Tabriz university of medical sciences, questionnaires were presented to professors and medical assistants. Before starting the study, an informed consent form was taken from all the candidates and signed by the candidate. 141 people participated in this study. The questionnaire included background information and questions related to knowledge and attitude about PM. Results 78 of the participants (55.3%) were male and 63 (44.7%) were female. In terms of education, the highest frequency was related to specialists (44.7%) and then general practitioners (44%). About half of these people were not familiar with PM. Fortunately, 51% of people were willing to use new medical interventions. 32.4% of the studied people stated that PM is very important in the prevention and treatment of diseases. About a quarter of the participants considered disease prevention services as the most important area of application of PM. High costs were the main reason for the reluctance of experts to use PM.en_US
