Viral warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), which are difficult to treat with conventional methods. The viral origin of warts suggests the antiviral drug acyclovir as a potential treatment option. On the other hand, cryotherapy has also been recognized as an effective treatment option in recent years. As a result, the aim of this study is to compare the effect of cryotherapy with the combined treatment of cryotherapy and acyclovir injection in patients with resistant hand and foot warts referred to the skin clinic of Sina Hospital in Tabriz. Methods: This study is a single-blind clinical trial study. In this study, the number of 80 patients with treatment-resistant hand and foot warts were examined in the form of two groups, group A and B, respectively, 40 people in each group. Patients in group A were treated with cryotherapy and patients in group B were treated with combined cryotherapy with intralesional injection of acyclovir. Patients were followed up for three months. The outcomes considered in our study were recovery (complete, partial, and no recovery) and side effects such as pain, burning sensation, and scaling. Statistical analysis was done by SPSS software. Results: In our study, 80% reported complete recovery in combined treatment with acyclovir and cryotherapy, only 62.5% in cryotherapy treatment, and partial recovery was reported in 17.5% and 27.5% of the population, respectively. No response was found in only 2.5% of patients undergoing combined treatment with acyclovir and cryotherapy, and 10% of patients were not treated with cryotherapy in the 12th week.en_US
