Pregnancy-associated plasma protein (PAPP-A), a newly discovered member of the axis of insulin-like growth factors (IGFs), is an important biomarker in heart diseases, especially non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). In this regard, in the present study, the serum levels of PAPP-A and creatine kinase (CK-MB) in patients with NSTEMI were analyzed and evaluated. Methods: In this study, 40 patients with NSTEMI disease (59.65 ± 9.77 years) and 40 healthy individuals (44.88 ± 9.59 years) were included in the study as the control group. Serum levels of PAPP-A and CK-MB were measured using specific kits. The difference between the variables between the groups was checked with proportional statistical tests. In statistical tests, p-value < 0.05 was considered significant. Results: In this study, the median, first quartile, and third quartile of CK-MB in the healthy group were 28.50, 21.00, and 35.75 U/L, respectively, and the amount in the disease group was 10.00, 6.25 and 13.75 U/L, respectively. The level of CK-MB in disease group was significantly higher than in people with myocardial infarction without ST segment elevation (P < 0.001). Also, the serum level of PAPP-A in disease group was significantly higher than healthy people (0.68 ± 0.08 vs. 0.63 ± 0.13 μg/ml; p = 0.03). In the disease group, there was a positive correlation between PAPP-A and CK-MB, but this relationship was not significant.en_US
