Lupus is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease with a wide range of clinical manifestations, characterized by the involvement of multiple body systems. In the Iranian population, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is more common in women, being about nine times more prevalent than in men, and is most frequently diagnosed between the ages of 15 and 44. Environmental risk factors associated with SLE include smoking, alcohol consumption, metals, air pollution, obesity, poor diet, infections (such as EBV, CMV), pesticides, and silica exposure. Genetic factors also play a significant role in the progression of SLE, largely due to the combined effects of various genes. The prevalence of SLE in Iran, a Middle Eastern country, has been reported at 40 per 100,000 individuals. SLE tends to manifest with more severe symptoms in Iranian patients compared to Caucasians in Europe. The higher severity of SLE in Iranians appears to be linked to certain environmental risk factors, including dietary habits. Therefore, the present study aims to investigate the effect of MiR-206 on the expression level of the NOD2 gene in monocytes of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. Materials and methods: The present laboratory study was performed on lupus cells in RPMI640 culture medium containing 10% FCS at 37ₒc and 5% CO2. After counting and dividing the cells, the inside of the cell plate was stimulated with MiR-206. Incubation was done. After 48 hours, the cells were collected and total mRNA was extracted and the expression level of NOD2was checked through qRT-PCR. Statistical tests P < 0.05 were considered significant. Results: The results of this study showed the role of MiR-206 as a tumor suppressor in lupusen_US
