A review of experimental literature indicates the effects of diabetes in increasing the incidence of nausea and vomiting after surgery; However, other factors are also effective in the occurrence of this complication in diabetic children, which affect the variable effects of diabetes, which need to be identified. Therefore, these ambiguous and unknown cases justify the necessity of the present study. Very limited studies have not been done regarding the prevalence and risk factors of this complication in orthopedic surgery. On the other hand, the rate of orthopedic surgery in children is in the third place; Therefore, it is necessary to know the risk factors of this complication of orthopedic surgeries. Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of investigating factors affecting nausea and vomiting after orthopedic surgeries in diabetic children. Methods: In this case-control descriptive study, all children in need of orthopedic surgery were examined. Then the children were divided into two groups based on whether or not they had diabetes and were compared with each other in terms of nausea and vomiting and related risk factors; Finally, the contribution of factors affecting nausea and vomiting in children was determined. Results: female gender increases the share of nausea and vomiting by 26.2 times, previous history of nausea and vomiting increases the share of nausea and vomiting by 3.85 times, history of nausea and vomiting surgery in the family increases the share of nausea and vomiting by 8.59 times, emergency surgery The share of nausea and vomiting is 11.8 times, performing surgery in the last week is 25.3 times the share of nausea and vomiting, diabetes mellitus is the share of nausea and vomiting 12.59 times, having a digestive disease is the share of nausea and vomiting 3.96 times. Equally, the duration of surgery more than two hours contributes to nausea and vomiting 4.75 times, the duration of anesthesia more than three hours contributes to nausea and vomiting 6.75 times, blood transfusion during surgery contributes to nausea and vomiting 5.96 times. Levels of white blood cells above the normal limit contribute to nausea and vomiting by 54.5 times, CRP levels above the normal limit contribute to nausea and vomiting by 6.77 times, fasting blood glucose levels of 90 times higher than the normal limit contribute to nausea and vomiting. 3.45 times and administration of opioids in the recovery unit increases the share of nausea and vomiting by 8.96 times.en_US
