Abstract
ABSTRACT Title: The effectiveness of sexual counseling with EX-PLISSIT model on sexual satisfaction and performance in married women under 18 years of age (child -marital) Introduction: Due to the high rate of child marriage in Iran and also due to the fact that currently there is no program for counseling on sexual issues in the primary health care network in Iran, which can lead to wrong information and create harm. Also, considering that the EX-PLISSIT counseling model is one of the best counseling approaches to solve sexual problems, therefore, the present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of sexual counseling with the EX-PLISSIT model on sexual satisfaction and performance in married women less than 18 years old (child marriage). Methods: This single-blind randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted on 66 married women under 18 years of age (child marriage) who had referred to Shahid Vaziri Premarital Counseling Center in Saveh city. The participants were randomly divided into two groups; Intervention.sexual counseling with the EX-PLISSIT model For the intervention group, several free sexual counseling sessions based on the EX-PLISSIT model for 60 to 90 minutes were scheduled by the researcher at the Shahid Vaziri Premarital Counseling Center at a suitable location. The content of counseling in these women was based on the client's sense of need and sexual problems. The number of sessions was determined based on the client's sense of need, the therapist's discretion, and the FSFI score. Counseling sessions were held individually and with an interval of one week. Sexual performance was measured with the FSFI questionnaire, sexual satisfaction was measured using the Larson sexual satisfaction questionnaire, and the quality of sexual life was measured using the Women's Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaire (SQOL-F). After coordinating with the research subjects in the relevant health center, the post-test questionnaires were completed by the researcher through interviews. After collecting information from all research units, the data results were analyzed using SPSS-Version 24 software. Findings: The sexual performance score after the intervention in the counseling group was significantly higher than the control group (). The average score of the quality of sexual life after the intervention in the counseling group was significantly higher than the control group. While we say that there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of sexual satisfaction before and after the intervention. Conclusion: The results of the study showed that sexual counseling with the EX-PLISSIT model can significantly improve the sexual performance and quality of sexual life of married women under 18 years of age (child marriage), but it does not affect their sexual satisfaction.
