Evaluation of the Relationship between QRS Wave Findings and Quality of Life in Patients with Heart Failure

Abstract

While the prognostic significance of QRS wave abnormalities in heart failure is well documented, their impact on patients' quality of life is still an unknown area. Understanding how QRS wave findings are related to quality of life in heart failure patients is essential to tailor patient-centered care, optimize treatment strategies, and ultimately improve clinical outcomes. Considering this issue, the present study was designed and implemented with the aim of investigating the relationship between QRS wave findings and quality of life in patients with heart failure. Methods: The present study is a cross-sectional descriptive study that has a prospective approach and was conducted during the year 2022 with the participation of patients hospitalized in Shahid Madani Hospital (Tabriz University of Medical Sciences). By referring to the heart failure clinic, the researcher included the patients in the study according to the entry and exit criteria and explaining the objectives of the study to qualified people and obtaining informed consent. During this study, after filling in the demographic information and obtaining written consent, an electrocardiogram was obtained and the quality of life form was given to the patients. In illiterate patients, the questions were read to the patient by the researcher. Results: Examining the results indicated that according to SF-36 criterion, Quality of life score has the most dependability with QRS duration. Whereas after QRS duration approaching to the 128 milliseconds, a significant decline in Quality of life socre will take part (P=0.009). However, the mentioned result has no statistically significant relationship with the quality of life by the Minnesota instrument.
