Parasitic infections in developing and developed countries are one of the problems and causes of complications and even death of people. On the other hand, we are witnessing an increasing number of people with HIV in the world. These people are prone to various infections, including intestinal parasitic infections, due to their immune system deficiency. Among the intestinal opportunistic pathogens are Isospora belli, Blastocystis hominis, Cyclospora cayetanensis, Toxoplasma gondii, Cryptosporidium parvum, etc. These parasitic infections cause complications such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever and chills, muscle pain, central nervous system involvement and even death. Study According to the mentioned materials, we decided to provide a correct interpretation of public health and treatment policies by examining the prevalence of pathogenic parasites. Materials and methods: A stool sample was taken from each patient participating in the study, and after Giemsa staining, the parasite Blastocystis hominis was searched. Then, using molecular PCR methods, the prevalence of this parasite was determined and such subtypes of Blastocystis hominis were identified in Tabriz city. Results: Out of 137 stool samples examined, 33 cases were reported positive for Blastocystis hominis. Each of these cases was confirmed by microscopic and molecular methods. In this way, the prevalence of Blastocystis hominis parasite was 24.1% in Tabriz city.en_US
