dc.description.abstractPsychiatric nurses are responsible for establishing a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, maintaining it, and ensuring optimal clinical restraint surveillance based on the restraint application standards. This study aimed to determine Psychiatric nurses' knowledge, attitude, and performance in using physical restraint on patients in the most prominent psychiatric center in northwest Iran. Materials and Methods A descriptive study was conducted on 200 psychiatric nurses using convenience sampling at the most prominent psychiatric center in northwest Iran-Tabriz in 2022. The data gathering tools were a demographic questionnaire and nurses' Knowledge, attitude, and performance toward using physical restraint questionnaire. The data were statistically analyzed by SPSS version 11.5 software. Results: The mean and standard deviation of the scores of nurses' knowledge, attitude, and Performance towards using physical restraint of psychiatric patients was 19.36(1.73) from the range of 0 to 23 and 36.51(4.65) from the range of 12 to 60 and 65.19(3.39) from the range of 15 to 75 respectively. The performance was statistically correlated with work experience in the psychiatry ward and Knowledge (p < 0.05). Conclusions According to the study results and and the role of psychiatric nurses in creating a safe environment for patients, it is better to implement in-service education programs to improve nurses’ knowledge, attitude, and practice as much as possible.en_US
