A better understanding of stroke pathogenesis through the identification of stroke risk/protective factors can lead to new strategies for stroke prevention. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the diet of stroke patients and whether there is a relationship between the incidence of stroke and their diet pattern. Methods: This study is a cross-sectional and prospective study in which patients with a complaint of stroke referred to the emergency department of Imam Reza Hospital (AS) are included in the study. All patients who came to the emergency room of Imam Reza Hospital with complaints of acute stroke (ischemic, hemorrhagic, SAH) in the months of September, October and November 1401 and were admitted with the diagnosis of acute stroke were included in the study. During the hospitalization of the patient, their daily diet was asked, if possible, from the patient, and if unable to speak, from the first-degree relative who lives in the same place as the patient, and demographic characteristics were also added to it. Results: In this study, 100 patients were included in the study, which follows the normal distribution based on the Kolmogorov-Semirinov statistical method. Based on this, the average age of the patients was equal to (62.11-67.63, CI95%) 64.87 ± 13.90 years. In examining the gender distribution of patients, 65 patients (65%) were male and 35 patients (35%) were female. In examining the level of literacy of the patients, most of the patients were illiterate or under-diploma, and there was very little higher education. In the occupational examination of the patients, most of the patients were either self-employed or retired (57%). 91 out of 100 patients experienced a stroke for the first time, and 5% of patients were discharged without neurological impairment and 64% with neurological impairment. They have left the hospital. 31 patients eventually died (31%). In examining the records or description of chronic diseases of these patients, diabetes was the most common, but more than half of the patients were unaware of the presence or absence of the underlying disease.en_US
