Investigating the status of chemical, pharmaceutical and biological waste disposal management in faculties and research centers of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in 1401-1402

Abstract

Due to the growing importance of waste management of environmental pollution risks, the status of chemical, pharmaceutical and biological waste management in Tabriz University of Medical Sciences investigated. The purpose of the study: Investigating the status of chemical, pharmaceutical and biological waste disposal management in faculties and research centers of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in 1401-1402 Method: This study carried out in a descriptive and cross-sectional way. The study population was a laboratory located in the faculties and research centers of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, and a questionnaire used to collect data. After the validity of the questionnaire, the questionnaires distributed to the heads and experts of the laboratory, as well as the researchers in the laboratory and the service staff, and collected after completing the questionnaire. The limitation of the project implementation and analysis of the results is the completion of the questionnaires according to the self-report of the participants. Results: In this study, 226 questionnaires completed and the majority of participants in the study were the researchers and laboratory experts.The results indicate the unfavorable situation of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in: - Existence of disposal instructions for waste by separating the type of waste2- Implementation of the existing instructions in the university.The results show an average situation in: 1- Documenting the waste disposal process in the laboratories. 2- Monitoring and inspection by the head of the center or the relevant official. The results indicate a relatively favorable situation in: 1- Teaching the importance and method of waste disposal in the laboratories. Conclusion: The results indicate the need to develop guidelines in the waste disposal in university laboratories, education of the aforementioned guidelines to all people involved in the process of waste disposal according to their role in this process and monitor the process of their implementation by the authorities in the university.
