| dc.description.abstract | Illness anxiety is considered one of the somatoform disorders, in its etiology, the role of personality and emotional characteristics is emphasized. Based on this, the purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between personality factors and anxiety sensitivity with illness anxiety.
Methodology: The research population included the students of the external course of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in the academic year 1400-1399. From this population, 300 people were selected in a stratified random method, and to measure the variables, Eysenck's personality questionnaire, Floyd's anxiety sensitivity scale and Salkovic's and Warwick's disease anxiety scale were used. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the data.
Results: In this study, 300 students of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences participated in the externship course, whose age range was between 23 and 27 years. 180 (60%) of the participants were female and 120 (40%) were male. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between neuroticism and illness anxiety, which shows that illness anxiety increases with the increase of neuroticism. Also, there is a negative and significant relationship between extraversion and illness anxiety. This means that with the increase of extraversion, the level of illness anxiety decreases. Also, there is a positive and significant relationship between psychotism and illness anxiety, which shows that with the increase in psychotism, illness anxiety increases. Also, the results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between anxiety sensitivity and illness anxiety, which shows that with the increase of anxiety sensitivity, the illness anxiety increases. | en_US |
