Introduction: Tissue engineering uses cultured cells, active biological factors and scaffolds to restore bone structure and function. Among the different types of materials, composites are the most widely used fComposite scaffolds include a mineral phase such as hydroxyapanite (HA) along with a natural polymer such as gelatin. Nowadays, composites have been replaced by nanocomposites that have more strength. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of adding hydroxyapatite nanoparticles on the tensile strength of gelatin-curcumin nanofibers.or the construction of bone scaffolds due to their special characteristics. Materials and Methods: 36 nanofibers prepared by electrospinning in dimensions of two by two square centimeters were analyzed in 6 groups based on whether they were wet or dry, containing or not containing hydroxyapatite and curcumin(Zwick Roell Materials Testing Systems, model 1 M/H); was done. Shapiro-Wilk test was used to check the normality of the units and one-way analysis of variance was used to compare the tensile strength between the groups. SPSS version 25 software was used for data analysis with a probability value of less than 0.05 (five hundredths) as a significant level. Results: The average tensile strength in the group without curcumin and nano hydroxyapatite in the wet state was the lowest and in the group containing curcumin and nano hydroxyapatite in the dry state the highest value (p-value<0.0001). Tensile strength of gelatin-curcumin/hydroxyapatite nanofibers were not different in dry and wet state. Addition of hydroxyapatite to gelatin-curcumin nanofibers improved the tensile strength of nanofibers in both wet and dry states (compared to other groups). Conclusion: The average tensile strength in the group without curcumin and nano hydroxyapatite in the wet state was the lowest and in the group containing curcumin and nano hydroxyapatite in the dry state the highest value (p-value<0.0001). Tensile strength of gelatin-curcumin/hydroxyapatite nanofibers were not different in dry and wet state. Addition of hydroxyapatite to gelatin-curcumin nanofibers improved the tensile strength of nanofibers in both wet and dry states (compared to other groups).en_US
