dc.description.abstractsince the identification of covid-19, this disease has caused more than 5.1 million deaths worldwide. Early identification of high-risk patients is very important in saving the lives of Covid-19 patients. The aim of this study is to evaluate the use of inflammatory markers in predicting mortality among hospitalized patients with covid-19. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 210 patients with laboratory-confirmed covid-19 who were admitted to the intensive care unit of Imam Reza Hospital in Tabriz in 2019. Demographic characteristics, basic laboratory factors, respiratory status were recorded in the patients. The relationship between neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio with mortality rate, duration of hospitalization and duration of mechanical ventilation was evaluated through relevant statistical methods. Result: No significant correlation was observed between PMN/Lymph with length of stay in ICU and duration of mechanical ventilation. However, the level of PMN/Lymph in deceased patients was significantly higher than that of recovered patients. This study showed that the PMN/lymph ratio is a valuable factor for predicting admission to the intensive care unit and the mortality rate in patients with covid-19. In this study, the PMN/Lymph ratio did not show a role in predicting the duration of hospitalization in the intensive care unit and the duration of mechanical ventilation in patients with covid-19.en_US
