Sedation and analgesia in the emergency room refers to the technique of prescribing sleeping or sedative drugs with or without painkillers; which causes a change in the level of consciousness so that a person can tolerate a painful or pleasant operation without disturbing the person's cardio-pulmonary function. The complications of sedation in the emergency room determine the importance of proper training for this. The purpose of our investigation is the learning result and satisfaction of interns regarding the subject of sedation in the emergency department using two teaching methods based on discussion and teaching. materials and methods In this study, 129 interns introduced to the emergency medicine department were included in the study. These interns were randomly divided into two groups, I and II, according to the month of entering the emergency medicine department and with randomly permuted blocks and using the online software available at www.randomization.com. For both groups, a pre-test based on standard parallel multiple-choice questions (MCQs) was prepared in the areas of definition of sedation, its different levels, and criteria of inadequacy. Sedation, reasons for opposition to ventilator, characteristics of intravenous sedation drugs were performed. Then, the electronic software that was prepared was distributed to the first group. For people of group II, 6 hours of discussion-based training was conducted for 3 consecutive weeks. At the end of the course (after 1 month), a post-test, which was the same questions as the pre-test, was administered by the interns of both groups. Then, the information collected from the pre-tests The test and post-test were subjected to statistical analysis with McNemur test and descriptive statistical methods using SPSS version 16.0 software.en_US
