dc.description.abstractOsteosarcoma is a common human malignancy with a high mortality rate worldwide. Recent studies have been focused on the understanding the involvement of microRNA (miRNAs) in the pathogenesis of osteosarcoma. Therefore, the present study aimed to measure the expression of miR-181b, cylindromatosis (CYLD), chromobox homolog 7 (CBX7), BCL2 and p53 in tumor tissue and adjacent normal tissues in patients with osteosarcoma and its relationship with clinicopathological factors. Methods The expression levels of miR-181b, CYLD, CBX7, BCL2 and p53were measured in the tumor tissues and adjacent normal tissues of sixty patients with osteosarcoma using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Finally, the relationship between this gene's levels and clinicopathological factors between the two statistical tissues of tumor and healthy was compared. Results Our results showed that the expression levels of miR-181b, BCL2 and p53 were significantly higher in osteosarcoma tumor tissue in comparison to normal tissues (P<0.05). On the other hand, CYLD and CBX7 were downregulated in osteosarcoma tumor tissues, when compared to healthy adjacent tissues (P<0.05). In addition, the expression levels of miR-181b in tumor tissues were strongly correlated with patients age, tumor size, clinical stage, and cancer grade (P<0.05).en_US
